MAIN FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DEPUTY SECRETARY-GENERAL

  • Assume all the duties, functions and responsibilities of the Secretary-General in the absence of the latter;
  • Assists the Secretary General in managing the Secretariat and advises on all aspects of the work;
  • Is responsible for ensuring, in consultation with the Directors, that the Strategic Plan is implemented and for reporting to the Secretary General on the status of such implementation;
  • Advises the Secretary-General on staff matters and the application of the Staff Rules;
  • Exercise any other functions, functions and responsibilities that may be assigned to it by the Secretary-General. The Secretary-General may delegate responsibilities, duties and functions to the Under-Secretary-General with a view to ensuring the most efficient functioning of the Secretariat;
  • Is a member of the Management Committee;
  • Chairs the Administrative Commission which is the consultative body established in the Secretariat to advise the Secretary-General on matters relating to technical and administrative staff, and management;
  • The Assistant Secretary General is required to comply with the WCO Standards of Conduct for Public Servants.
